Remembering Marc Rehmsmeier

With great sadness we announce that Marc Rehmsmeier passed away on April 29, 2022 at the age of 50, after an almost 2-year long fight against metastatic colorectal cancer.

Marc, among many great actions, played a significant role in co-founding the Predictive Epigenetics (PEP-NET) training network, with the aim of bringing together theoretical and experimental young scientists to join the forces and investigate epigenetic processes. The PEP-NET students and our whole community will always remember Marc for his brilliant mind and charming personality, as well as for the creative spirit he infused into our community, which we hope will continue to inspire our research and everyday life.

Marc spent his last two and a half weeks at the ”Palliativstation 55” of the Charité hospital in Berlin. The staff and doctors there were outstanding on all levels, and took great care of patients and their families as human beings. Donations are welcome to this excellent centre, if you wish to contribute to their outstanding work. Please mention Marc Rehmsmeier if you wish to donate.
